Let's Talk Exports

The Ottawa Economics Association (OEA) is pleased to present Let's Talk Exports, Thursday, May 31, in partnership with Export Development Canada (EDC).

EDC Vice President & Chief Economist Peter Hall will discuss:

  • The economic recovery;
  • Unique opportunities and risks that may surface in 2012-2013;
  • The export outlook for specific industry sectors;
  • Which provinces that will see greater opportunity; and,
  • How to succeed in a highly competitive global marketplace.

When: Thursday, May 31; registration opens at 11:30 a.m., lunch and presentation to follow at 12:10 p.m.

Where: Château Laurier Hotel, Canadian Room, Ottawa

Cost: OEA members pay $30 in advance or $50 at the door. Non-members pay $50 in advance or $60 at the door. OEA student members pay $20 in advance or $50 at the door. All prices include HST.

About the speaker

Peter Hall joined Export Development Canada (EDC) in November 2004. He has over 20 years of experience in domestic and international economic analysis and forecasting. Mr. Hall is responsible for overseeing economic and political risk analysis, special research and the corporate library. In addition to advising senior management at EDC, Mr. Hall is a featured speaker at conferences across the country and internationally, and regularly appears in television, radio and print media commenting on recent economic developments and implications for the outlook.

Prior to joining EDC, Mr. Hall directed the economic forecasting activities of the Conference Board of Canada. Mr. Hall has also served as a member of roundtables on the economies of the Eurozone and the Asia-Pacific region. Mr. Hall is president of the Canadian Association for Business Economics, a 600-member national association of professional economists, and actively participates in its local Ottawa chapter. Mr. Hall has degrees in economics from Carleton University and the University of Toronto.
