Electric SUV to be built in Woodstock

Published by Steve Coleman on August 09, 2011

An investment in Toyota's Woodstock, Ont. plant has produced a major spinoff for the southern Ontario factory.

Production of Toyota's electric version of the RAV4 EV SUV has been moved from Palo Alto, California-based Tesla Motors to a new production line in Woodstock.

The decision comes on the heels of a Toyota decision to spend $567.7 million in Woodstock. Gearing up to build the SUV in Ontario will include the first new vehicle assembly plant in Ontario in more than 20 years.
