Published by Steve Coleman on November 02, 2011

Statistics Canada says 2010 was a good year to be in a computer-related industry.

The annual index measuring prices in the informatics professional services (IPS) industry says all four categories were charging higher prices in 2010, compared to 2009.

The index measures computer systems design and related services, software publishing, data processing, hosting and relates services and Internet publishing, broadcasting and web search portal services.

Stats Can says pricing for computer systems design, the largest of the four, was up 4.2 per cent from the previous year, while software publishers charged 4.9 per cent more.

Internet publishing, broadcasting and web search portals charged 4.1 per cent more, while data processing and hosts collected 1.1 per cent more year-over-year.
