Battle for second Windsor, Detroit bridge heats up

Published by Steve Coleman on August 16, 2011

Debate continues over a Canadian proposal to push through a second bridge crossing in over the Detroit River.

Canadian politicians and business leaders hosted a Michigan Senate panel in Windsor, Ont. Aug. 15, lobbying for their support for another span between Windsor and Detroit.

The Canadian government has offered to pay Michigan's half of the building project. The Ambassador Bridge's owners have their own proposal on the table to add a second span beside their current bridge.

The debate cranked up a notch during the visit, says the Detroit News.
