Ottawa firm secures Nokia outsource deal

Published by Steve Coleman on November 04, 2011

An Ottawa high-tech company has found a new partner in the world's largest cell phone maker.

DragonWave Inc. has become part of a complex deal with Nokia Siemens Networks to become both a key supplier and look after research and development.

As a part of the agreement, the Ottawa company will pay Nokia close to $48 million and pay to bring an estimated 360 employees from Milan, Italy and Shanghai, China to the Nation's Capital.

The Ottawa Citizen says the transaction will double the employee count at DragonWave.
