Newly created Advanced Manufacturing Fund (AMF) announced by Minister Goodyear

Gary Goodyear, Minister of State for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), recently announced details of the newly created Advanced Manufacturing Fund (AMF), which is designed to support and develop a stronger, more technologically advanced southern Ontario economy.

“We applaud the government’s support of increased R&D capacity among manufacturers, but would like to emphasize the need for similar programs in all regions of Canada,” says Jayson Myers, CME President and CEO. “CME has had an enormously successful working relationship with FedDev, especially in offsetting cuts make to the SR&ED program. We look forward to continuing our work with FedDev to make the strategic investments in Ontario's manufacturers.”

The last four years, FedDev Ontario committed more than $1.1 billion, which has created more than 5,300 partnerships supporting businesses, organizations and communities in southern Ontario. Thanks in part to consultations with CME, the Government of Canada’s Economic Action Plan 2013 provided 200$ million over five years for the Advanced Manufacturing Fund in Ontario, to be delivered province-wide by FedDev Ontario.
