Employment in April declines slightly

Canada’s unemployment rate went unchanged in April though overall employment declined slightly but fewer workers participated in the labour force, according to data released today by Statistics Canada. Saskatchewan saw a boost in employment numbers while many provinces declined slightly. By sector, manufacturing saw a minor decline, however, year over year employment was up slightly. The trade sector saw an increase of nearly one percent with employment numbers in April topping 2.7 million workers.
