Listeria scare ends for Calgary firm

Published by Steve Coleman on January 10, 2012

A Listeria scare is over for a Calgary-based specialty food company.

Ginger Beef Corp. is back in production after shutting down in November to deal with possible Listeria contamination.

The company announced Jan. 9 that it had finished the cleanup and received a passing grade from both its own tests and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

The shutdown forced the company to recall products from five provinces. The incident was the first for the company in its 30-year history.
