EDC announces financing in Turkey for AkLease

Published by Brad Fougere on March 26, 2014

Canadian manufacturers and exporters got a $10 million boost in the Turkish market with today’s announcement from Export Development Canada. Turkish leasing company Ak Finansal Kiralama (AkLease) was extended a line of credit on the lease of Canadian manufactured equipment by Canada’s export credit agency.

“EDC has been working with AkLease and their customers for many years and we see this formal financing agreement as the next logical step in connecting Canadian equipment with new Turkish buyers,” said Zenon Woychyshyn, chief representative in Turkey for EDC.

Turkey holds market opportunities in energy, ICT, mining, education and infrastructure and was designated a strategic market of opportunity by the Government ‘s Global Markets Action Plan. In addition, the Turkish government has recently announced a target of being a top ten economy by 2023 with a €100 billion infrastructure spending plan.

“EDC’s partnership with AkLease will allow Canadian companies to supply the necessary equipment and machinery to local companies contracted to deliver these projects,” a release from EDC noted.
