Average payroll earnings increased slightly in March

StatsCan released its Payroll employment, earnings and hours update for March 2012 today.

It found that last month, average weekly earnings of non-farm payroll employees were $888.34, up 0.8 per cent from February. On a year-over-year basis, earnings rose 2.1 per cent.

This 2.1 per cent rise in earnings during the 12 months to March is a result of a number of factors, including wage growth and changes in the composition of employment by industry, occupation and level of job experience.
