Plastics to become more dominant

Published by Steve Coleman on January 10, 2012

A new report is predicting a resurgence for plastics, both rigid and bio-degradeable.

The industry took a bit of a hit during the recent economic slowdown, but demand is expected to pick up, again, as emerging countries start looking to put more plastics to use.

The report, prepared by Global Industry Analysts, Inc., says plastics are currently second to paper in the flexible packaging materials industry. Unlike metal and glass, plastics are showing strong growth because they're cheaper to produce.
