Students had more trouble finding work during summer break

Getting that all-important summer job was more difficult for students this summer.

Unemployment rates for students looking for work this summer was the worst since at least 2006, according to Statistics Canada.

This summer, the average unemployment rate for students 15-24 years old was 17.2 per cent. In 2010, the student unemployment rate for the summer break was recorded at 16.9 per cent. Between 2006 and 2008, the average rate was below 14 per cent.
