U.S. axle maker adds sixth Asian plant

American Axle & Manufacturing Holding, Inc. officially opened the doors to its sixth Asian manufacturing plant on Sept. 9.

The company opened opened its Rayong Manufacturing Facility in Thailand's Rayong province to add to its production of front axles, rear axles and driveshafts. AAM is hoping the addition of the new plant will let it further tap into the Asian market.

The Rayong Manufacturing Facility is considered a regional manufacturing. The physical plant occupies 138,000 square feet, 125,000 square feet of it manufacturing space.

Currently, the facility employs 195. Once it becomes fully operation, the plant is expected to employ 275 engineering and manufacturing associates.
