Customs brokers elect new chair

The Canadian Society of Customs Brokers has elected a new chair for their board of directors.

The society named Melanie Bedard to the top spot during their Sept. 19-20 annual conference in Lac Leamy, Que.

Bedard has been in the customs brokerage industry for close to 30 years and been Vice President, Canadian Customs Operations at Milgram & Company Ltd. in Montreal since 2008.

Previously, she worked for a large international freight forwarder and customs broker where she was responsible for Eastern Canadian customs and consulting operations, land transportation and a national quality director.

The new board chair has been on the CSCB national board since 2009.Before getting active at the national level, she held several positions with the Quebec regional committee.

Besides picking a new person to lead the group, members marked their 90th year at their most-recent national event.
