Bombardier to provide planes for Chinese leasing market

Published by Steve Coleman on February 15, 2012

Bombardier has landed a new deal in China for its commercial aircraft division.

Export Development Canada signed an agreement Feb. 15 with ICBC Financial Leasing Co. at the Singapore International Air Show to bring Bombardier products to the Chinese aircraft leasing market.

"In working with Bombardier partners and customers in China, EDC hopes to help create liquidity solutions to bring Canadian aircraft to this important growing market, to the benefit of Canada's aerospace industry," said Carl Marcotte, Vice-President, Transportation Group, EDC in a news release. "We hope to develop near-term transaction opportunities in Europe and Asia into financing commitments within the first half of the year."

The latest agreement follows a March 2011 memorandum of understanding between the two to work out details of the arrangement.
