Nestlé acquires Pfizer infant food division

Published by Steve Coleman on April 23, 2012

Nestlé has added more food and drink to its repertoire with the $11.85-billion acquisition of Pfizer Inc.'s infant-menu.

The Swiss-based company says it hopes to increase sales in emerging markets with the deal. Eighty-five of the Pfizer Nutrition units sold as a part of the deal are in emerging markets. One of the units sold as part of the deal is in China.

Preliminary estimates from the new owner predict the Pfizer business will do $2.4 billion in sales this year.
