Lumber mills ship less in August

Canadian lumber mills were busier year-over-year in August, although they shipped less during the month.

Monthly lumber production by sawmills increased 0.7 per cent to 4,465.9 thousand cubic metres in August. Compared with the same month last year, lumber production increased 0.8 per cent.

Sawmills shipped 4,399.8 thousand cubic metres of lumber in August, down 6.3 per cent from July.
