Published by Steve Coleman on August 02, 2011

At least one manufacturing sector hasn't been affected by a flat economy.

French luxury products maker PPR, which includes names like Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and sportswear maker Puma, said its first-half net profits rose 16.1 per cent to €450 million ($642 million) on strong sales in emerging markets.

Analysts were predicting €7.1 billion in sales for the luxury goods maker. Emerging markets were worth 37.2 per cent of total sales in the first half of 2011.
