Hyundai records 40th month of growth

Published by Steve Coleman on May 01, 2012

Not everything has been downhill in the automobile industry.

Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. announced that the record 14,301 vehicles sold in April pushed the company into new territory - 40-straight months of year-over-year growth.

The Korean automaker says it has sold 43,632 vehicles so far this year, a 5.6 per cent increase over 2011.

"The consistency of our sales growth is a testament to Hyundai's standing among the very best in the industry," said Steve Kelleher, President and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. in a news release. "This result has been built not on the strength of one or two models, but on a comprehensive line-up of class-leading products. "

In April, for the second month in a row, the Elantra broke its model record with 4,310 units sold.
