CME members voice their opinions on immigration policy

Published by Stephanie Brooks on August 31, 2012

Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) submitted comments to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) on behalf of its membership for the government's 2013 immigration levels planning.

It is no doubt Canada is facing skills and labour shortage that is impacting our economic performance. In a recent survey of our members, nearly 50 per cent of companies indicated they had a labour shortage today and are expecting them to grow over the next five years.

These consultations were a welcome opportunity to voice the challenges, opportunities, and thoughts industry had to share.

Thanks to all those who participated in this important step toward ensuring Canada has the right labour to fuel our economic needs.
