Bombardier hopes still flying high over CSeries jets

Published by Steve Coleman on March 07, 2012

Bombardier Inc. says it hopes to get its new CSeries jets airborne by late December or early January.

The company says in a March 7 Financial Post story that it's still on track to meet internal plans to have the jet flying before the end of the year, although initial flights could still be bumped to the start of 2013.

Bombardier still expects to have the airliner ready for production in late 2013.

The jet already has 138 orders in the books from nine customers, while two others have signed a letter of intent to purchase 30 CSeries aircraft with the option of buying another 15. Bombardier has said in the past that it wants 300 orders in the books before it puts the plane into service.
