Wholesale trade numbers increase in April for agricultural supplies industry

Statistics Canada released the wholesale trade numbers for April today, showing a 1.5 per cent rise to $49.3 billion.

The increase was seen mainly in the West, and predominantly in the agricultural supplies industry. The jump in sales was reported in four of the seven subsectors, accounting for roughly two-thirds of total wholesale sales. Excluding the agricultural supplies industry, wholesale sales remained the same.

Volume-wise, wholesale sales rose 1.3 per cent for April.
