2012 could be Canada's year in UK

Published by Steve Coleman on September 29, 2011

Canada's High Commissioner to the UK says the next year could provide some interesting business opportunities to companies that plan ahead.

A series of once-in-a-lifetime events taking place in the UK in 2012 could give Canadian companies a golden opportunity to get their names known at the international level.

"The recent meeting between our prime ministers in Ottawa further heralds a new period of positive partnership between Canada and the UK," writes High Commissioner Gordon Campbell in a Sept. 27 letter to CME President Jayson Myers. "2012 will also be a very important year in the UK, with the Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee, the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the projected conclusion of the CETA negotiations all providing significant opportunities to position and promote Canada."

Campbell also welcomed the news that Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters is working on a European engagement strategy to help businesses make inroads on possible EU business opportunities.
