US names China, Russia most-active economic spies

Published by Steve Coleman on November 03, 2011

The American government is naming names in the spy game.

The U.S. has accused China of being the "most active and persistent" country in terms of economic spying. Russia, a U.S. intelligence reports says, is a close second.

Most of the spying has taken place over the Internet where thieves can move huge amounts of data in seconds. The report says the fact American and Chinese companies have closer ties than they used to is making the situation more difficult to police.

A Wall Street Journal story takes a deeper look at the situation.
