Preliminary report signals rebound for Chinese manufacturers in October

China's manufacturing sector is showing signs it may expand for the first time in four months, which would snap a lengthy contraction dating back to 2009.

A preliminary reading of the purchasing managers index measured 51.1 - up from 49.9 in September and August. A reading above 50 indicates growth.
