Manufacturing Management Certificate

Launched in April 2015, the Manufacturing Management Certificate (MMC) is a joint educational initiative between Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters and Athabasca University, designed to provide the necessary skills training to develop and nurture new managers and supervisors from within existing manufacturing operations.

“The Manufacturing Management Certificate almost feels like mentorship. You can bounce ideas off other people in industry, and the academic coaches are irreplaceable. Never having that formal education in leadership, this course has just opened my eyes."

Program Design

Each course is delivered online through Athabasca University over a span of four weeks, and requires approximately 8-12 hours per week for readings, discussions and assignments. Click here for more information.

Benefits to Employers

Employers enrolling students in the MMC may be eligible for reimbursement of two-thirds the training cost under the each provincial iteration of the Canada Job Grant. Contact us to learn more.

Unlike many professional development programs, each course within the MMC has clear learning objectives and deliverables, and requires students to demonstrate their learning — without requiring travel to a classroom.

Benefits to Students

It is common practice in manufacturing to promote production or operations employees into supervisory or management positions — opportunity abounds. The MMC prepares students for long-term success in management by providing immediately applicable knowledge, skills and strong peer mentorship.

Who Should Enroll

The primary group intended for this program is individuals already employed within manufacturing operations, either as new managers or with potential to move into management or supervisory positions. Candidates in administration, sales, marketing and other roles are also encouraged to partake.
